Blank tray icon on Fedora 23 (Gnome 3.18)

I just installed Insync via RPM on Fedora 23 and see the following in the notification/tray area of Gnome 3.18 instead of the Insync icon:

I can hover over and click on the “blank” area to the right of the “<” symbol to open Insync but this is obviously less than ideal.

In case it’s of any help in tracking down the source of the problem, it seems that the HipChat client for Linux has a similar problem as detailed here:

https://help.hipchat.com/forums/138883-suggestions-ideas/suggestions/4013212-linux-client-is-missing-notification-area-icon

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I came across this document:

Unfortunately, installing the sni-qt package doesn’t seem to fix the issue for me.

Another interesting observation:

I do see the icon in the notification tray upon the app launching the first time (automatically after the RPM installs).

If I quit the app and open it again, the icon is missing. The icon is also missing in every subsequent launch.

+1

I have the same problem, this happen to me with F22 but that time i installer sni-qt and solve the issue, that’s not the case this time with F23.

@swindmill @fnkr @alexmigf Thanks for the report, we’ll take a look at this soon.

Please try these builds and let us know if they resolve your issue:
http://s.insynchq.com/test_builds/insync-1.3.3.36057-fc21.x86_64.rpm
http://s.insynchq.com/test_builds/insync-1.3.3.36057-fc21.i686.rpm

This build seems to have fixed the issue. Thanks!

I have the same issue in openSUSE 13.2. Unfortunately, you don’t have a package to my distro, so I use the fc17 package. Anyway, with this package, insync works well but with no icon on systray (I’m using KDE Plasma 5). I have sni-qt installed and other no-plasma icons works well (dropbox, hp etc).
