Adding account in Linux

Hi, I’ve been an insync user for over a year now via the windows client. I recently installed linux on my laptop (Ubuntu 15.10) and installed the Insync linux client. When I try to add a google account, a new chrome window opens, however it it just opens to the generic new tab page, and not to a log in page to add my account.

I will tag our engineer in this and we will get back to you

@Carl_Adams: What happens when you run xdg-open http://www.google.com in your terminal?

Mine also opens a new window with the generic new tab page. When I run “xdg-open http://www.google.com” it does the same thing.

@capitolben: What Linux distribution and version are you using? Also what version of Google Chrome are you using?

Ubuntu 15.10
Chrome 49.0.2623.110 (64-bit)

Hi - I was eventually able to solve the problem. I found that if I logged out of chrome first, then tried signing in with insync, it opened the log in page properly. I honestly think this is more of an issue with chrome than insync as I’ve noticed quite a few times that links from external programs open blank pages in chrome.

I was able to get it to work by changing my default browser to Firefox. Logging out of Chrome did not work for me. It is probably a Chrome issue but worth noting since Chrome is so commonly used.

@capitolben @Carl_Adams: I was able to find this on the internet, maybe it could help: http://askubuntu.com/questions/689449/15-10-chrome-external-links-are-opened-as-blank-tabs-in-new-browser-window
