Export syncing folders state

Imagine I am changing computers… In the new computer I can now easily count on file matching. Great.

But what if I have a long folders’ “[:heavy_check_mark:︎] sync [×] don’t sync” list?

Working on different machines and syncing a different set of folders in each machine is a great feature of InSync.

I had a problem with 1.2 version, prior to file matching feature, that consisted on replicating folder syncing settings while restoring my InSync folder after a “initialization error” experience.

I would have loved to have a backup of the folders syncing state, so I wouldn’t have to remember by heart and rebuild all the folder list syncing state on Google Drive I’d like to sync with this specific machine.

This feature request seems to be very simple to be implemented — and an “export/save sync folder state” to a file that could easily be imported would be quite handy. Even better to have a GoogleDrive Folder automatically created to manage those syncing states by assigning a machine name and a date, for instance.

What about that?

Hi @Fred thanks for the feature request. This seems very smart actually. I will tag our engineer @marte in this and see if he has feedback on this

Hello @Fred, that seems an advanced feature that we won’t be able to support in the current incarnation of Insync. We’ll consider this for the next major release though. Thanks for the feedback!

I am very glad to see this idea being requested before. Because this is the same feature I am looking for.

I have an insync folder taking now more than a week for file matching.

I have upload terabytes of folders and files to google drive before, but because some hardware difficulties I am forced to install a new system on a new computer. So if I can export the database files from above picture under:
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Insync\dbs

and allow me to import that file to a new computer with insync installed, then you will safe me a lot of time just to re-match the files once more.

PLEASE IMPLEMENT THIS FEATURE, OR MAYBE JUST MAKE AN INSTRUCTION ON MAYBE SIMPLY COPY THE db FILE TO A NEW SYSTEM.

Great Thanks
