Fedora 41 insync repo failure [build + repo updated]

Hi @bjorn_linzer, kindly standby for our updates! F41 is in the works

For now, please use the Fedora 40 installer and do let me know if there are any issues with that build so I can alert our Linux engineer accordingly.

Thank you!

Hi Mia,

Thanks for your reply.
The fedora 40 installer throws an error message (don’t record the text, I’m not at that machine) and blocks the update/install mechanism until the repository is removed. I’m new to Fedora and don’t know much yet about trouble shooting. Gonna wait for the updated installer.

Good afternoon dear… Any predictions for a solution to this case (Fedora 40 and 41)?

@leolima Hello! Our engineer is currently working on the fix - we’ve encountered a few hiccups building the installer but will update once it’s ready.

Thank you!

Hey Insync Team,

Just wanted to give a quick shout-out for the awesome work you do! Your software has been a game-changer for me, and I know many others feel the same.

As part of the Fedora community (currently on Fedora 41), I’m happy to wait for updates and really appreciate all the effort that goes into making Insync better for Linux users. Fedora folks are a growing bunch, and we definitely value tools like yours.

Thanks for all that you do!

We appreciate this, @adaelxp! :white_heart: I am working closely with our Linux engineer to make sure all of you are in the loop when the Fedora 41 build is available.

Our engineers are still checking on a few dependency issues they encountered, but rest assured it will be ready very soon!

I’m also anxious for the Fedora 41 build to update my system.

Thanks for the great work you do in Insync!

If you’re tired of waiting and use distrobox, you could put it in a Fedora 40 distrobox container for now.

I won’t link it but I have a GitHub repo insync-distrobox with bash scripts to help. Exports from the container to the host so everything is seamless.

Hi,

Is there any news about it?

Hi everyone. I’m following up on this. Thank you for your patience and my deepest apologies for the delays!

Add me to the list
Please drop a note here so we get notified.

Tip: THe rpm for Fedora 40 is working - just disable the repo after installing to get rid of the error message.

I will do! And thanks for the tip

That is getting ridiculous. 15 days ago you talked about ‘a few issues’ and ‘soon’.

BTW: Any news about the Dolphin plugin?

I’ve gotten word that the build is going to be ready very soon. I know I’ve mentioned “soon” before and I can understand how frustrating it is to keep waiting, but rest assured that I am working closely with the Linux engineer to make sure this is available at the soonest possible time.

Thank you for your patience!

Re: Dolphin plugin, there is no update yet but I’ll follow up on this one too.

Yeah, We are waitin, waiting and waiting.

And waiting and waiting and waiting…

Better that we wait, and that the build is good, than it be released too early with issues…

Thanks for the update @mia

Hello, everyone.
I am successfully running Insync on my Fedora 41;
What did I do?
Temporarily until the offical version comes out.
I’m using the Fedora 40 version, with no repository errors.
I simply downloaded the “.rpm” from the website and installed it locally on my PC.
Then I edited the file in:
“/etc/yum.repos.d/insync.repo
Replacing:
“baseurl=http://yum.insync.io/[DISTRIBUTION]/$releasever/”
For:
“baseurl=http://yum.insync.io/fedora/40/”
After that you can run “yum update” and everything will be working.
This is temporary, as soon as the updated version comes out, I’ll make the adjustments.
I hope this helps you.
