Handle large file names (to sync encrypted files)

I’m using InSync to synchronize encrypted files, but it fails to download files with long names. I suggest InSync can handle large file names. One example of file name that failed to sync is:

,afOJ-0GKqFw3z5SHyzd47A3HjsJxA7Q3WYWqO8kYi1X,cxAOA2oJH-R2ySJLzwPiqxb0fLodz5o4iPpSmldRQtSWQ3ZFsUQ3wJNdqgNMjM82EwSg,8G38BF3RvFTjIhYNo97Sd5TmGJEjJ,mBARI6h5

Thanks.

Using Ubuntu 15.04
package: insync 1.2.18.35198-trusty

@masina: If you encrypted your Linux partition, then the issue is the limitation in eCryptfs where it can only store filenames up to 143 characters. Please see here for more details: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ecryptfs/+bug/344878.

This is unfortunately outside the scope of Insync. Here are some workarounds:

  • Store the Insync folder in a separate unencrypted partition.
  • Selectively unsync the folders containing the files with long names.
  • Shorten the files with long names.
