How do I get files added to the folder on my laptop synced with google drive

Hi

I have the folder on my laptop generated by insync. All the files and folders in my online Google Drive get synced to this folder. However, when I put a file or folder in this folder it does not get synced with my online Google Drive. Why is this and how can I make it work so that any file or folder I put in my laptop folder gets synced with my online Google Drive.
