Insync not working with Debian Bullseye (under investigation)

Same problem. Downgrade fixed it for me too.

We will update the relevant Forums posts with the fix once it’s been deployed. Thank you all for your patience!

Hey all, please give these builds a try and let us know if the crashing issue persists:

Insync 3.7.8 for Linux users

The Ubuntu version seems to work fine on debian Bullseye. The debian version crashed upon opening.

Thanks for the solution Mia.

@Sam_Crawford I’ve taken note of the feedback re: Debian version. To make sure I have the correct info, can you specify the exact installer for the Debian version that crashed?

Hi Mia,

The installer I used was insync_3.7.8.50362-buster_amd64.deb. This is the installer that crashed.

Thank you so much for clarifying, @Sam_Crawford. We will investigate this further

I just tried to install this version: insync_3.7.8.50362-buster_amd64.deb (my system is Debian Bullseye 11) … It seems to work

P.S. I downloaded and installed it manually (it is not present in the repo yet)

Version 3.7.6.50356-buster works OK.
Version 3.7.6.50360-buster installs, but crashes immediately after starting.
Version 3.7.6.50362-buster installs and runs using the settings from earlier installation, but crashes after i try to open the app window.

Using Linux Mint Debian Edition on Bullseye
I updated Version 3.7.6.50356-buster to Version 3.7.6.50362-buster to try it out.

Hi @Jeroen,

Could you send your logs.db and out.txt files to support@insynchq.com with the link to this Forums post? Please also include the output of insync start --no-daemon.

Thank you!

I’m glad to know it’s working for you! We’re investigating the inconsistencies since we have received mixed feedback-- we’ll make sure that the next version will be more stable across the board

Hello! For Debian 11 (Bullseye) users who tried the v3.7.8, could you please download this again? https://www.insynchq.com/downloads

For reference, the previous release I posted provided a Buster build instead of Bullseye, and this might be a factor as to why some users have reported that it’s not working as expected. We truly apologize for overlooking this detail.

Let us know how it goes!

@Sam_Crawford @otello @Jeroen

I am sorry Mia, I don’t know where to find these files.

The output of insync start --no-deamon is:

Using Linux Mint Debian Edition 5 on Bullseye

I had this issue, but I can see that version 3.7.6.50356-bullseye is working well again! Thank you.

I just installed LinuxMint Debian Edition (Bullseye) and insync is acting up again. It installs, but then tries to downgrade to "buster) when doing a “sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade”.

After uninstalling it and reinstalling it with “sudo apt install insync” it installs but says “buster” again. It seems to run but crashes when trying to open the app.

Follow up:
I installed a new user account for my wife and insync was crashing again when I tried to open it. It appeared for a second or two in the task bar then dissapoeared.

I reinstalled the Ubuntu “focal” deb as suggested earlier in this thread and things are working normally again.

I saw that insync for Debian bullseye Version 3.7.6.50362-bullseye installs fine, but makes a mistake in the definition for the repositories. Every sudo apt update gives an error.
The installation of insync makes in Linux mint Debian edition a repository definition for Mint, Elsie, while it should make repositories for Debian, bullseye. Since that is the name of the repositories of insynchq for this version of insync.
You can easily correct that by hand though, by changing the word “mint” in “debian” and “elsie” in “bullseye”.
If the repository is right, it should work. At least it does on my system running Linux mint Debian edition 5.

Hello all!

Thanks very much for commenting on the forums post — we are confirming a new version for deployment and I will be posting the link here as soon as it’s available

Hi all,

For Debian 11 users, please give this build a try: New Insync version: 3.7.9

Let us know how it goes!
