Insync will only run as root

I installed insync on a new laptop and can’t get it to run as a normal user. Runs file at root but that really is not acceptable.

I was hoping you could tell what the problem was, if I show you the output before it crashes. Let me know if you need any further information.

I am running with openSuse Tumbleweed. I previously had it working fine on my old machine running openSuse 13.2. Thanks.

I run:

insync start --no-daemon

and get

subprocess.CalledProcessError: Command ‘which gsettings || :’ returned non-zero exit status 127

Will be tagging our engineer @lpugoy in this and he will get back to you.

@Tom_Dillon: Apologies for the trouble. It looks like the command which is not available for your normal user. Try adding it to your PATH then restart Insync.

It is available.

In /usr/bin/which

echo $PATH
/home/tdillon/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/games:/home/tdillon/bin:/home/apps/riviera/riviera-2008.02:/home/apps/precision/Precision_2007a.11/Mgc_home/bin:/home/apps/xilinx/xilinx_13_4/ISE_DS/ISE/bin/lin64:/home/apps/xilinx/xilinx_13_4/ISE_DS/EDK/bin/lin64:/home/apps/altera/15_0/quartus/bin:/home/apps/altera/15_0/hld/bin:/home/apps/mentor/questasim/linux_x86_64:/home/tdillon/bin

There must be some other problem.

@Tom_Dillon: Try running the following commands:
/usr/lib/insync/py -c 'from subprocess import check_output; print check_output("which gsettings || :", shell=True)'
/usr/lib/insync/py -c 'from subprocess import check_output; print check_output("/usr/bin/which gsettings || :", shell=True)'

Also is your system updated?

@Tom_Dillon: Try running the following commands:
/usr/lib/insync/py -c ‘from subprocess import check_output; print check_output(“which gsettings || :”, shell=True)’

tdillon@tt3:~> /usr/lib/insync/py -c ‘from subprocess import check_output; print check_output(“which gsettings || :”, shell=True)’
/usr/bin/gsettings

/usr/lib/insync/py -c ‘from subprocess import check_output; print check_output("/usr/bin/which gsettings || :", shell=True)’

tdillon@tt3:~> /usr/lib/insync/py -c ‘from subprocess import check_output; print check_output("/usr/bin/which gsettings || :", shell=True)’
/usr/bin/gsettings

Also is your system updated?

Yes, new install of openSuse Tumbleweed with all updates.

@Tom_Dillon: That’s strange. If you’re not using a proxy a workaround is to run Insync with the --no-pac flag (insync start --no-pac). Otherwise, if it’s ok with you I would like to have a remote desktop session to observe the issue directly. You can send the times you’re available to support@insynchq.com.
