Mixed users using Google Drive and Insync?

We have about 15 users on Google Drive. We were having problems with shared folders - sometimes sub-folders would get renamed, such as 10.05.something would be renamed to 10(1).05.something on some user’s folders.

We switched some of the users to Insync. Now it’s even worse - seeing things like 11.10.something getting renamed to 11 (2) (2) (2) (2) (2) (2) (2).10.something

First question - can I mix users with Google Drive as client with others with Insync as client?

Second question, what’s going on with the crazy renaming?

Hi @Jim_Weisbin,

We have to investigate your issue. Please send us your logs.db and out.txt file to support@insynchq.com. Please include the link of this post.

Thank you.

OK I’ll post logs, but can you please answer this:

First question - can I mix users with Google Drive as client with others with Insync as client (accessing same shared folders)?

On my laptop I switched from Google Drive to Insync. It seems to be trying to re-sync everything every day. Also using tons of power.

@Jim_Weisbin To answer your question:

  1. Different users will have it’s own folder. You can’t sync to s shared folder with other Google accounts.

  2. Did you sync it to an existing Google Drive folder? If yes, Insync is doing a file-comparison, that is why it looks syncing. Do you experience this or do you have other issue?

Thank you.

“Different users will have it’s own folder. You can’t sync to s shared folder with other Google accounts.”

Sorry, I don’t understand this statement. The folders are SHARED folders - they are shared to everyone on our Google Apps domain. The users’ actual “Google Drive” (or “Insync”) root folders aren’t shared. But there are subfolders that are shared among all our domain users (by sending them a sharing link). It is in those folders that some sub-folders are being renamed.

We have to check your logs if what caused the renaming of theses files. Since shared files sync to a user should not be renamed. Please send it to support@insynchq.com

Thank you.
