Hi!
I am about to migrate my disk-pool to a new server.
the server is going to be installed from scratch - so i will also have to start over with insync-headless
but before i go on with this - i want to make sure if i have to re-download everything or if i can “match” files.
the thing is as of now i have installed insync-headless and my folder is under the default location /usr/username/user@gmail.com
but my storage pool is: /media/mediashare/photos etc.
theese folders are then symlinked into the /user@gmail.com folder - and this works fine.
So -if i follow the same steps
and on my new server installs insync-headless and links it to my gdrive account.
will i be able to just create the symlink again - and then it will compare with the folder in google drive?
@Ronni_Hostrup: If the paths will stay the same on the new server, you could just copy over the ~/.config/Insync and /usr/username/user@gmail.com folders from the old one and Insync will start from where it left off. It’s important that all paths are the same for this to work.
If you will use new paths, you can try these steps:
Copy /usr/username/user@gmail.com from the old server to its new location on the new server.
Create the symlinks.
Add your account using the new location as your account’s Insync folder.
i “took a chance” - and actually got it to work. here is what i did.
Installed my new server,
migrated my storage ( lvm harddisk setup ) to the new server.
installed insync-headless and then i added my account again.
i then symlinked my data folders ( photos ) into the new insync profile folder
and started insync.
it started right away to sync - and it looks like everything is in order now.
so from my knowledgde it must have done some sort of “compare” because none of the files are there twice.
