Hi all,
We have upgraded to latest version of insync and we run the wizard to complete the installation (selecting the default option). When the insync started syncing the folder, we observed that some duplicates folders have been created. Thereofre, we stopped the process in order to avoid duplication of files (since most of the users are owners of around 2k files).
Can you please advise if there is a way to avoid duplication of files? If we resume the sync, will the duplicated files be “absorbed”??
Thank you
I have had a similar experience with an earlier 1.3 version. I’m not willing to try again without some kind of test - I got hundreds of duplicate files before I killed it. I now have numerous changes and updates in Drive and on the local file system, and I really need to figure out a path forward.
Is there any documentation on the new file matching feature? I thought I’d do a test by only syncing a single folder, but it wanted to delete all the other previously synced local folders off my local drive - not a good idea.
Hi @jimperio kindly assist
Terrible support!!!
The way you handled that case is totally unprofessional.
Hi @jimperio and @marte any feedback on this particular use case? I believe it will be absorbed but I would like to double check with our engineers.
@Dimitris_Katsaris I apologize for the delayed response. Right now, the best way to avoid duplication of files is to ensure that the local files match the files on Drive. That is, the folders should be named the same, and the files inside the folders should also be named the same.
When you resume the sync, unfortunately, Insync has no way to determine whether a file is a duplicate or not, so the duplicates won’t be automatically removed.
