I was adding a directory from my computer with around 25,000 small files yesterday. It uploaded fine. Then later in the day I decided to delete it again from my computer. After a couple of hours I saw that InSync was still working. It said it had 4 items left, but nothing happened. When I looked a little closer it looked like InSync was moving the files from one directory to the other. I also tried to open some of them on Drive from the app windows on my computer. They were in a directory I do not have on my drive (as far as I know). It was /storage/ext/something/something. All I remember is the /storage/ext part of the path. I was also told by drive I didn’t have permission to access the files. I ended up shutting down InSync, deleting the ~/.config/InSync directory and start from scratch. It took a few hours for InSync to update all files, but in the end everything was back to normal.
All is good now, but I do have large directories with 20,000+ files I need to sync, move around and delete at times so I was wondering what could have caused what happened, and if there’s a way for me to prevent it from happening again. I have not had problems with InSync at all for year, but after I deleted my Dropbox account a while back I rely on InSync for all my cloud back-ups and sync so it is important for me to know what’s going on.
