Recover overwritten files?

I have my google drive mounted on my linux computer using insync. Long story short, I overwrote a bunch of files using a script on the command line of the linux computer. Is there any way to get the overwritten files back?

There’s nothing in the google drive trash or in the .insync-trash folder.

Any help here?

Hi Albert, can you send in your logs along with the link to this post to support@insynchq.com?
How to find the log files

Hi @Albert_Schueller, could you copy their email response here?

If I hear anything, I’ll be sure to let everyone know. At the moment, I’m just considering the files lost. I’ve moved that whole work flow back to dropbox. There I can restore overwritten files to earlier timestamps and recover after accidents like this.

Got this tonight. It worked! :grinning: Got all of the overwritten files back.

Hello Albert,

I’m really sorry not to have gotten back to you sooner.

There’s no easy way to do this using Insync, but Drive does store versions of files for 30 days and you may be able to recover the older versions there. It’s accessible in the Drive web interface via right-click > Manage versions.
