I use Debian/12.6/bookworm up-to-date with all security patches. The latest version of insync in the bookworm archive is 3.9.3.60019-bookworm and fails to start. The symptom is very similar to earlier failures in that the tray icon does not show, and I cannot access the insync GUI. I have reverted back to the previous version that worked, 3.9.2.60030-bookworm and held the updates until newer version is fixed. All is well here at the previous version.
Hi @freelsjd, I have alerted our engineers regarding this. I’ll keep you updated on this thread as soon as I have their input. Thank you for reporting, and apologies for the persistent issue!
Testing in my bookworm with plasma-workspace-wayland acivated the latest insync starts ok
Hi @mia, I also have the issue that the GUI and the daemon crash as soon as I click “open app window” from the taskbar icon.
Had the same issue also with the 3.9.2.60014 release.
I’m running Insync on POP OS 20.04
Thanks for your commitment and support
Could you run these two commands for me:
lsb_release -a
apt-cache policy insync
Thank you!
Hi, here’s the result:
lsb_release -a

Hi! Please change the /etc/apt/sources.list.d/insync.list
and replace xenial
with focal
. Afterwards, re-install Insync by running this command:
sudo apt update && sudo apt remove insync && sudo apt install insync
Thank you!
Great, this solved the issue, now it works flawlessly!!
I don’t know why I had the wrong version installed…
Thank you very much
Sometimes this happens when users update their OS - the old installer is no longer compatible with the updated OS. You can do the same steps above just in case a similar behavior happens in the future.
Happy syncing!
I just checked this forum today and realized an update came through for insync. I have updated my installation of Debian/12.7/bookwork to insync 3.9.4.60020-bookworm. All is well and my previous holds have been released. Thank you for your continued support and quality product.
