It is possible to link within Google Drive to another folder with a shortcut. This is nice so you can quickly navigate between folders. However, syncing this shortcut results in a xxx.glink file, which serves no function. Opening the link results in going to Google Drive web saying that there is no example available. It would be nice if this would be automatically changed into a Windows shortcut to the folder specified.
Yes, that would be great. A simpler functionality but that would also work for me would be to just resolve the link and open it correctly in the browser.

I completely agree with your suggestion. The issue with .gdlink files also affects GNU/Linux users like me. When I double-click a .gdlink file, the browser opens a page that says, “No preview available.” Then, I have to manually go to Google Drive, search for the link, and open it in the web interface.
It would be incredibly useful if .gdlink files could be automatically opened like .gddocs or .gdslides documents. This would allow users to seamlessly open the linked folder or file directly, improving both functionality and user experience.
