Crash on start Ubuntu 26.04, libQt5WebEngineCore triggers kernel trap [FIXED]

Running insync start and monitoring journald gives this relevant line before crashing:

kernel: traps: insync[91187] trap int3 ip:7dfa745f56f1 sp:7ffdff961f60 error:0 in libQt5WebEngineCore.so.5[35f56f1,7dfa71000000+74ea000]

Problem began surfacing after 23 Sept 2026. It seems other WebKit related software are also malfunctioning. E.g. Evolution now refuses to render emails (it uses libwebkit2gtk).

My apologies for the trouble! Could you please do the following:

  • run insync start --no-daemon
  • email the full output to support@insynchq.com, including the link to this Forums post
  • include your logs.db and out.txt files, which are located in ~/.config/Insync

Thank you!

Following a comment in a similar bug reported here ( Crash on Kubuntu 26.04 - #3 by Russell_Stewart ) I’ve tried running fc-cache -fv, first run failed and second succeeded, after which Insync started working again.

I have no idea what caused the font cache to corrupt (I don’t know if it’s Chrome like the other user) and why it only targeted WebKit/WebEngine stuff. But I’m happy the issue is resolved.

Hi @routing6581! Thank you for updating that the second run succeeded.

Good morning.

This issue occurred across three machines running Zorin 18.1 Pro. I can confirm that fc-cache -fv did resolve the issue on all three, and the fc-cache command successfully ran on the first attempt.

Thank you so much for your insight on this one. Our initial diagnosis was taking us in a very different direction.

Appreciated.
