Help with Syncing Google Drive Across Internal and External Drives

Hello,

I currently use a laptop with an internal NVMe SSD and an external HDD. As a graduate student in oceanography, I frequently work with large satellite and simulation datasets. To manage this, I store most of the data on the external HDD, while using the SSD to run code that processes the data.

I sync everything to Google Drive (around 10TB total). I use Insync to sync Google Drive with the external HDD, and rclone to sync the laptop’s internal SSD with Google Drive.

Is there a way to sync different parts of my Google Drive to both the external HDD and the internal SSD only using Insync, so that I can set up the same configuration on both my laptop and my lab computer?

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or guidance.

Best regards,
Claudio

Hi Claudio,

Thank you for the work that you do!

Insync can only sync files folders to one location at a time. Meaning, an item can only either sync to your external HDD or internal SDD, but not to both. Would you like me to forward this as a feature request to support use cases like yours?

Hi mi@, thanks for the response. It would be great to have that feature to sync different directories.
