If I have 500 files in my Google drive, and I want to sync them all, is it really the case I have to painstakingly click each one, click 2 way sync, and in the case of folders, then click “Base Folder” ? I’ve tried the usual shift click and ctrl click to multi select, but that doesn’t seem to be a thing in Insync. Should I hire some employees to spend all day clicking Insync just so that I can have a functioning sync?
No, you can follow this selective sync guide: https://help.insynchq.com/en/articles/3220036-selective-sync
NOT INTUITIVE. How am I supposed to know that a little cloud has some equivilence to the two way sync icon shown next to each item? OK sure, the cloud has a 2-way icon inside it, but you’ve got 2 icons like that top right. And if you click the cloud with a 2-way icon, then you get offered 1 way sync also as an option (!!!)
Furthermore, every other program in the universe uses the well known ctrl-click, and shift-click way to multi select. Why reinvent the wheel?
Since this is an adjunct to Google drive, why don’t you learn from Google? In https://drive.google.com, one uses the very familiar ctrl and shift click to select items. When you do so, up the top of the page appears the menu of what actions you can take on those files. Because you didn’t want to clutter the screen I guess, you have this weird thing where the icons appear when you hover over them. And then you’ve got a 2nd level hover where you can see the description of the icon. I can’t imagine this would pass any accessibility standard either. Not to mention you can’t shrink the window much because of this design.
Why don’t you have one set of icons up the top of the screen, you can give them actual labels without hovering, kill the cloud icon and drive icon, and checkbox screens. When the icons are not greyed out (aka, you’ve selected a file or a set of files), then you can press them to do that function.
Benefits are: works how every other program in the universe works as far as multi select. Works like drive.google.com works. More intuitive. Better accessibility. Not relying on weird hovering UI.
Hi @xpusostomos, thank you for your feedback! Indeed, some users have also expressed that there are ways to make our UI more intuitive, and these are things we are taking into account because we do acknowledge that the UX can be improved further. The features guide on our website and our Help Center are available for users who might feel like they need further guidance on how to navigate Insync. Furthermore, there is a 7-day trial prior to buying a license to assess if Insync is the right fit based on its features and functions.
I’ve noticed it hasn’t been seamless for you in terms of its functionality. If you don’t mind me asking, what has led you to keep using our app despite these pain points?
