Insync 3.9.4.60020 Ubuntu 24.04 [Wayland issue, fixed with workaround]

Just install a new machine with Ubuntu Studio 24.04 LTS. Downloaded Insync and tried to install it using dpkg -i, but kept getting dependency errors with libc6. Went ahead and installed the Insync to sources list and then installed it via apt.

Now when starting Insync I get a blank white screen for the app. I’ve restarted etc, but no success. I’ve seen others with the same issues, but no results in the forums. Not sure what to do at this point in time.

sudo apt-cache policy insync gives me the following:
insync:
Installed: 3.9.4.60020-noble
Candidate: 3.9.4.60020-noble
Version table:
*** 3.9.4.60020-noble 500
500 http://apt.insync.io/ubuntu noble/non-free amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

lsb_release -a give me the following:
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS
Release: 24.04
Codename: noble

Let me forward this to our Linux engineer to figure out what’s happening. I’ll keep you posted!

Mia

Any update on this? Really need to get access to Insync on this machine.

I did some more searching on the forums and found that there is an issue with Insync and Ubuntu 24.04 and Wayland. It worked if I used X11.

There was something in the forums about trying the following: QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb insync start. That seems to have worked with Wayland.

Hi @bblater!

Thank you for informing me and apologies for not including that when I asked you for more information! Please let me know if you need further technical support after you implemented the workaround.

Hi @bblater

Can you post here the full error?

Thanks!
