Insync does not detect local changes (a symlink to a FUSE drive)

I am trying to use insync to upload the contents of an read-only FUSE drive.
Currently, I have it set up so that my local insync folder contains a symlink to that FUSE drive.
This FUSE drive is an encrypted view of a directory (call it a target directory), and thus its contents change as contents of the target directory change. Thus, insync should detect the changes made in the encrypted FUSE drive every time I change the contents of the target directory.

However, it seems like insync is not detecting change of FUSE drive, even if I add/remove contents from the target directory. One thing to note is, when I pause sync, then resume sync, insync seems to “notice” the change in the FUSE drive and sync the changes.

I am not sure if this issue is only for Linux, or for other OSes too, but I’ll post it here.
I am using Linux Mint 18.3 64-bit.
