Insync is deleting all my content in Google Drive and even disappear from cloud. I am using Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS and I could not recover my information. Any suggestion to solve the problem?
My most sincere apologies! Let me escalate this to our engineers.
Please quit Insync and go to ~.config/Insync, and send the following to support@insynchq.com:
- logs.db
- out.txt

Include a detailed description of the steps you took before noticing the deletion.
Deleted files should be in Google Drive Trash and your local computer’s trash folder. Google Drive takes some time to load the files in the Trash folder-- you might need to check again after a few hours.
I’m Windows 11, using InSync with Google Drive.
I´ve installed InSync on my third machine, chosen a great folder to sync 2-way (more than 2TB) and InSync then deleted all the content of this folder on the cloud (it kept - sometimes - parts of the folder structures, but all empty). I could recover part of my files from the recycle bin (pc and cloud recycle bins), BUT NOT EVERYTHING. InSync deleted files in a way Google Drive didn’t even move some on the trash.
Besides, all the files I could recover from the cloud were restored straight to the root folder, loosing all paths (thousands of files, previously stored on thousands of folders, many with the same name). It has been a really tough week.
InSync was working fine on the other 2 machines.
Hi @adapmal,
I am really, really sorry for the huge trouble that you have been dealing with. I can only imagine the nightmare of having to rebuild what’s in the cloud.
We take deletion reports seriously as this goes against Insync’s integrity. Please provide the following information below so we can investigate this thoroughly:
- List the names of files or folders that were deleted. 3 to 5 will do.
- If you chose a Base Folder that had contents in it already
- If you are using another sync application aside from Insync
- logs.db
- out.txt
