Insync not finding the base folder

Insync cannot find the insync folder resolved

The problem I had seems to be common. I installed Insync on the boot drive and set the folder to be on my secondary drive, not the boot drive. On reboot Insync could not find the folder and asked me to relocate it. If I did that then on reboot it would ask me the same thing again.

I resolved the problem again in this way. First I created a folder called “InsyncMount”. That folder was created in my user directory. In my case /home/rob. This is on the boot disk. Next I found the UUID for the partition the Insync files folder was in. I used the gnome disks program to find that number.

Then I edited the fstab file. That is done by entering the terminal typing sudo nano /etc/fstab. Nano is a simple text editor. At the bottom of that file I added the following line,

UUID=92A816A5A81687BD /home/rob/MountInsync ntfs-3g noatime 0

After UUID= you need to type in the UUID for the partition you are mounting. /home/rob/MountInsync is the mount point. This is a pointer that points to the Insync folder where the files are actually located o the secondary (nonboot) drive. The ntfs-3g line tells the system the format of that partition. Yours is probably ext4, fat32 or something else. The other entries just help the boot process proceed.

I tried many different solutions that I found online. This is the one I figured out and it works and was fairly easy to do.
