Insync vs Google Drive for Mac/PC application

Hi everyone,

I started using Insync a long time ago to sync google drive with my linux machine. Well, I’m moving to OS X so I’m wondering what advantage (if any) Insync offers over the “Google Drive for Mac/PC” application? Here is a link. I haven’t tried it:

hi @mkowske,

Great question. I’m sure others will have their own inputs, but I’ll start with a few of my favorites:

  • multiple accounts; the Google Drive for Mac/PC app doesn’t support this natively. That said, you may find workarounds online but I haven’t tried any
  • external and network drive backups + syncing; again, not natively supported by Drive for Mac/PC. We recently wrote about this in our blog
  • Google Docs to Office format conversion; with this feature enabled, you have the flexibility of editing your docs with either Google Docs on your browser or with a program like MS Office on your desktop/laptop and the edits sync seamlessly
