I have a use case where I use links within my Google drive to point to files outside of the Google drive. I do this because I don’t want those files to be copied to my Google drive. I can certainly imagine (though not for my specific case) that there could be legal or regulatory reasons to use this mechanism.
I fully understand that if I see these links on a different OS, they would have no relevance (where is Linux link to /home/whatever/outside-google-drive pointing to on Windows anyway?), but you could just create the link pointing to nowhere.
If nothing else, I should be able to configure this and indicate that links should be ignored and (presumably) not be overwritten if there’s a conflict.
Please give this some thought.
