Manjaro: insync v3 crashing

Hello,
I must say that updating to insync 3 is not a success. I just installed the AUR package (v3.0.19) on Manjaro Cinnamon and I noticed that the program crashes when I click on “local selective sync”. Besides it does not seem to handle symlinks which is a major issue IMHO.
For the moment I consider v3 as not usable. I regret v1.5.7 which was working flawlessly.

I “fixed” it:
mkdir -p /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/
ln -s /usr/lib/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders.cache /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders.cache

But the program is extremely unstable. I synced a local folder and it resulted in deletion of many files without any reason. Still absolutely unusable…

Yeah I had to uninstall it, to many problems. Sucks since I bought two licences and can’t use it.

One of the most horrific releases ever. Insync 3 should have been marketed as a different program. The company fell victim to the idea that they were making progress (new shiny engine), and totally left out the user perspective. Narrow-minded and arrogant!

OK glad to know I am not alone here. I went ahead to upgrade to 3.0 given the email I receive, and it was a total disaster. The program freezes sometimes, does not handle updates in the cloud, gets lots of errors while matching files, has many of the UI missing, etc. This is at best a beta version, and it was released as stable. Hard to believe.

I am now though the painful process of reverting to 1.5. Ohh dear…

I’m on Manjaro KDE, and the above symlink didn’t fix insync. It was working in the beginning, so I’m not sure why it broke. Maybe a QT update broke it.

Hi guys, so sorry we weren’t able to implement syncing symlinks yet. We are working towards having feature parity with 1.5 soon. I apologize if this left out users we had banking on these features.

It boggles the mind that Insync pushed version 3 when it did not have parity with 1.5.7. Who made these decisions? Where is the official apology? Could you imagine getting on the train one day and find out they have “updated” the trains so that they have no seats, no safety bars, no doors, and no engines? This v3 debacle by the geniuses over at Insync is the worst business decision I’ve seen this year. Who of the higher ups in admin and engineering are going to stand up and explain?

So, what is the stage of this. Should I upgrade? Is the upgrade working or should I just keep using the previous version?

I tried last year and was a disaster, days to bring it back to the previous state. I need to be sure it will work as I cannot afford doing that again.

In my case, the last versions are working OK with manjaro. Version 1.5 is really becoming a little bit outdated.

Thanks @jjap33, but did you start from scratch or did you do a conversion of a lot of data? If so, the conversion to the new 3.x

For what I am reading, people are having all sort of issues with 3.x still…
