Microsoft temp files

I am sharing a Google Drive folder with multiple users and have some excel and word documents that we are all accessing. When I open an excel file, it does create the excel temp file, but insync does not sync it to the google drive and the other users can open it and modify it as though they are the only user. The first user will save the file and the second user will save the file and the first users changes are overwritten by the second. Does Insync sycn the temp files from ms office or can this be enabled or is this something that google drive is deleting from the sync?
