Mint 18.1 - Could not download all repository indexes

The update manager gives this error message:

The repository ‘http://apt.insynchq.com/mint serena Release’ does not have a Release file.Data from such a repository can’t be authenticated and is therefore potentially dangerous to use.See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration details.Failed to fetch http://apt.insynchq.com/mint/dists/serena/non-free/binary-amd64/Packages 403 ForbiddenSome index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Tagging our engineer @lpugoy and he will get back to you.

@David_Kistner: Thanks for reporting this. The repo for Linux Mint 18.1 has been added.

Hello! I just installed Linux Mint 18.1 KDE version. I think this problem might be still going on… Synaptic can not download all repository indexes. My error message:

The repository ‘cdrom://Linux Mint 18.1 Serena - Release amd64 20170125 xenial Release’ does not have a Release file

I tried changing the downloading mirrors, but I still get the error. Help please?

@jfsehuanes: The error message refers to the cdrom entry in your software sources. You can remove it using the following steps:

  1. Click on the KDE icon on the tray.
  2. Type “software sources”.
  3. Open the “Software Sources” program.
  4. Click on “Additional repositories”.
  5. Uncheck the entry for “CD-ROM Installation Disc”.
  6. Click on “Update the cache” to update the cache and confirm that the entry was removed.

Thank you Ipugoy! That did it.

I just upgraded to Linux Mint 18.3 and now I’m getting that message again:

“The repository ‘http://apt.insynchq.com/mint sylvia Release’ does not have a Release file.Data from such a repository can’t be authenticated and is therefore potentially dangerous to use.See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration details.Failed to fetch http://apt.insynchq.com/mint/dists/sylvia/non-free/binary-amd64/Packages 403 ForbiddenSome index files failed to download. Hello and happy new year.

Same happens to me for over two months now on 18.2 and 18.3.

Failed to fetch http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/xenial-security/InRelease Failed to fetch http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/dists/xenial/InRelease Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Thanks in advance.

I’m using 18.3 and no matter which repo I use I get one that fails to load here is the message when I have to cancel

“Failed to fetch http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/xenial-security/InRelease Failed to fetch http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/dists/xenial/InRelease Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.”

Well, I fixed it by disabling ipv6.
