Moving log files to improve performance

Hi I’m using insync on Server 2012. When syncing, the machine was slow - our scheduled tasks stopped working. I thought it might be because the log files are on the C drive and as they were being constantly accessed it was slowing the machine down.

So I quit insync, then I moved the logs to an external drive (F), then used mklink at the command line to redirect Windows from the roaming directory on C (the install default) to F.

Seems to work. Not sure if the speed issue is fixed yet though.

Any comments? thanks.

@Richard_Guy: Such a configuration could be problematic if the external drive gets disconnected. Are you experiencing slowdown during the Insync startup or throughout its run?

Sorry for the slow reply. I can confirm that my suggested solution does work - confining insync to the external drive solved the problem. Before, my computer was extremely slow whenever insync was doing anything. (Only ok when it showed a green check mark.) Hopefully the drive will not get disconnected.

This is just as well as syncing is VERY VERY slow. Took a full week just to start copying files! We have 450,000 or so. It took two weeks to upload 100,000. At least the computer is usable now.

I REALLY hope you can fix these issues as otherwise insync is great. The slow speed wouldn’t matter so much if you had file compare working.

thanks

Richard
