Possible to mix InSync on some computers with Google Drive on others?

I tried to access my Google Drive files from a Mac that doesn’t have InSync installed and am getting confusing messages. I don’t have specifics at hand but will get them if it helps.

Is there any general rule about mixed access methods like this? I do know that apparently Google Drive uses .gdoc link files and InSync uses .gddoc links, but I’m having trouble understanding all the implications. Do you have a white paper or something that explains it all?

@RobLewis Could you describe your situation in more detail? Which files exactly are you trying to access on that other Mac, and how are you trying to access them? From the Drive web app?

In general however, you can’t sync the ‘.gddoc’ link files from one machine to another. They are only intended to sync files from Drive down to the specific machine.
