Resume after cleanup

I paused sync before deleting everything on Google Drive (needed to do massive cleanup).

My local drive was cleaned up just the way I wanted it.

Now I resume sync believing that Insync will upload
my clean, local files back to my Google Drive. No change of directory names or locations, just deleted unwanted files.

Nothing happened.

If I add a new file locally it gets uploaded to Drive just fine, but
the existing files are not uploading/syncing…

What am I missing?
