Since a few weeks, I can’t use Insync any more because my whole Mac becomes so slow it’s impossible to do anything, even with only a single application running. It can take several seconds and at times even minutes to obtain a reaction to just a simple click somewhere. As soon as I quit Insync in the Activity Monitor, things get back to normal and I can resume my work. I just installed 1.2.16, to no avail. Everything on my Mac with Yosemite is up to date. What do you suggest?
@Sapperdepitjes Do you have a large number of files synced with Insync? As an initial troubleshooting step, could you send in your logs.db (plus menu > Support > Locate logs) to support@insynchq.com?
I did a few things, and the problem got solved. However, I can’t say which (combination of) action(s) solved the problem. Here’s what I did:
- I made a new folder on my Mac’s hard drive for each Google account synced by Insync.
- I copied all the files from the Insync folders to these new folders.
- I trashed Insync’s logs.db file, which by the way had grown all the way to 4,63 GB!
- I launched Insync.
- Insync showed all 4 accounts as paused because its folders were empty.
- I tried to unpause the accounts, but Insync wouldn’t let me.
- I copied back to the Insync folder all the files of 1 of the 4 accounts.
- I unpaused this account, and it synced!
- When it finished, I did the same for the other 3 accounts, all 3 together.
- Now, they’re all 4 synced again.
“With software, never ask why.”
@Sapperdepitjes It’s possible that it was the large log file that was causing the performance issue, and we are testing some improvements to further limit the maximum size of the logs that should be released in the next version.
We’re sorry for the inconvenience, and please do let us know if you encounter this issue again or any new issues with Insync!
