Symlink under Linux?

Somehow I got the impression that symlinks are supported. Is that the case? I set up a symlink in the Insync directory tree on my Linux Ubuntu 12.04 system (which is running the latest downloadable version of Insync–I downloaded and re-installed Insync, just to be certain) and the folder the symlink references isn’t being synced. (I created one file in Google and another on the local file system and verified that both files were synced. So I’m certain Insync is otherwise syncing files properly even though it overlooks the symbolic link.) So it looks like symlinks aren’t working for me, at least.

If symlinks are supported under Linux, I’d like help in troubleshooting my situation. What do we need other than recent log entries?

Thanks a bunch.

Cheers,

@W_B_McCarty Please send us your logs.db and out.txt file to support@insynchq.com. Also, please include the link of this post.

Thanks very much, Roald. Will do.

Cheers,

Good news. I wanted to change some configuration options, such as the choice of local folder to which syncs are done. In making the changes I ran into some familiar problems such as alleged conflict of folder names and the (false) appearance that nothing was being synced. After I resolved these issues to my satisfaction I once again tested whether symbolic links were working (that is, being followed) and found. . . that links are working perfectly. Apparently the sync program didn’t like my configuration but didn’t give me notice of any problem, fixable or otherwise. In any case, it seems that all is now working as it should. So you’d be welcome to my log information but I presume it’s of no value or significance to you.

Thanks for being available. I’m happy that it wasn’t necessary to call for more intensive assistance.

Cheers,

The system flagged my follow-up message as spam. That’s especially dumb and frustrating. I’m told I can edit the post but it’s not obvious how I can do so. And, more to the point, I have no idea what changes to make so that a message describing how I resolved the symlink issue is not considered spam. The message includes no links at all and no phrases of the sort generally considered to be a sign of a spam message. Apologies to anyone who Googled their way to this thread only to discover that the most important message isn’t visible. As I wrote, this is enormously frustrating!

@William_McCarty_Jr fixed. The new forum software called Discourse flagged it and I just unflagged it.
