I would like to keep a copy of the same directory structure on two computers.
In other words I would like files that have been backed up on computer A to be restored on computer B. I would like to use insync to populate a second local copy of the file on another machine.
I initially thought the advice for mirroring was an avenue for this. On reflection this seems to just make a Google drive folder appear to be a local folder.
That would be really cool if that was what I was trying to do.
The way it currently works is also a problem when migrate to a new computer.
A few months ago I had to move to a new laptop. I got all my files back from google drive manually. But when I marked the folders for for sync on the new laptop they end up on a in a directory with a “(2)” appended to it.
I guess I don’t understand why this issues isn’t a higher priority, people end up moving to new machines all the time.
“File-compare” feature is already been work on and it will be available in version 1.3. This feature will allow you to sync to an existing Insync Folder, and it will be easier to move from one computer to another.
