Transfer to new PC

I have Insync set to use an external hard drive, which is always hooked up to my desktop PC. I am in the process of moving everything over to a laptop, for more mobility.

Can I install Insync on the new machine, plug the external drive in, and direct Insync to that location? Will that avoid having to redownload all my files?

Is connecting and disconnecting the external drive frequently going to cause any issues with Insync? I’m okay with foregoing immediate access to those files when I’m mobile, but I don’t want to deal with errors or Insync deciding to use a new sync location when the one it normally uses disappears.

Hi @benwhiting yes, just assign your external drive as your Insync folder. It may appear as an error in Insync but it’s just the app’s way of reminding the user that the Insync folder is not available locally.
