Ubuntu 18.04 - Installation complete but package not configured

Hi all,
I’m having issue installing Insync. I’ve been using Insync in the last years, and this is the first time I run into this problem.
I’m installing Insync in a fresh Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. Installation completes succesfully, but package configuration fails:
Setting up insync (3.0.29.40727-bionic) …
/var/lib/dpkg/info/insync.postinst: 198: /var/lib/dpkg/info/insync.postinst: cannot create /var/lib/update-notifier/user.d/insync-restart-required: Directory nonexistent
dpkg: error processing package insync (–configure):
installed insync package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 2
Errors were encountered while processing:
insync
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Can anyone help me?

Thanks,
Stefano

Hi Stefano,

Let me check this with our engineers and I’ll advise you accordingly. Was this the first time you installed an Insync 3 version?

EDIT:

Can you run sudo mkdir -p /var/lib/update-notifier/user.d/ and try again? It should work now, but if it still shows an error let me know!

I just ran into this issue when installing insync on Pop!_OS 20.10 (Ubuntu 20.10 based). I had to manually create the folder for the installation to compelte successfully.
