Unable to Access Server at apt.insync.io [FIXED]

Hi,

I am unable to access apt.insync.io server, which is preventing me from checking, updating or installing Insync via the APT package manager on Ubuntu.

Could you please check on this issue?

Thanks in advance for your prompt attention to this matter.

Kind regards.

I’m having a similar issue. When I run apt update, I get

Err:4 http://apt.insync.io/mint wilma InRelease

My /etc/apt/sources.list.d/insync.list file contains

deb http://apt.insync.io/mint wilma non-free contrib

Same. I note it expired in August 2022 and caused these problems. Guess the 2 year rent bill is due.

yes, same for yum.insync.io

I just checked that and it seems they renewed for one year (!!!) - LMAO seriously…

FYI you can temp bypass : with yum --setopt=skip_if_unavailable=true

It seems like the DNS records for these domains were wiped.
Dig doesn’t return any IP for apt.insync.io

Just change “apt.insync.io” to “insync-apt.b-cdn.net” in your insync file somewhere under /etc/apt (in my case in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/insync.list). Without quotes, of course.
I found somewhere that apt.insync.io was a CNAME to this, and it works for me.

wth is going on with them… DNS hacked ? It’s time to sever any connections or authentication with this app until they clarify the incident.

What happened? Why is it suddenly removed from DNS?

Either they’re jokes and completely forgot to renew the domain, or they didn’t have enough money to; in any case, the domain registrar is currently refusing to give any DNS records until they either pay up, or a certain amount of time passes before anyone can acquire the domain.

For the yum users, I assume you can do what @tbarath suggested, but replacing “insync-apt.b-cdn.net” with “insync-yum.b-cdn.net”.

Same problem with Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.

Error: http://apt.insync.io/ubuntu noble InRelease

oh well, how ‘official’ is this? good luck trusting this on your repos…

So sad if this is true. I hope it is not.

I am having the some problem under PopOS (Ubuntu 22.04) - is this a long-term solution?

Also occurs on Debian 12. I’d appreciate some acknowledgment and feedback about what is happening.

insync-apt.b-cdn.net server does not act as a functioning repository: it is not a present time solution.

What is happening here? Can someone from Insync team provide some explanations?

I’ve just checked https://who.is/whois/insync.io and saw that:

Information Updated: 2024-08-10 15:18:26

Does Insync team still have control over the insync.io domain?

I’m experiencing the same problem on Kubuntu 24.04
