Can we get a definition of what “near-term” means please? This is so vague. It has been 7.5 months now and in that time you have rolled out Insync 3, that’s great for yourselves and OneDrive users but bandwidth control has been a requested feature for over 4 years and like other users have said, this should be one of the more basic features.
I’ve been using Insync since 2015, and I just paid for Insync 3’s prime hoping for some optimization, but the same issues still exist. Still, it randomly gets stuck syncing or randomly takes my CPU hostage. Restarting it enough times makes it act stably but I have to disable it so often to not throttle my internet that it is a constant battle. To top it off, Insync decided that all 300GB of my google drive needed re-uploading when I upgraded to 3, so I’ve paid for headaches and received no added functionality (for myself at least, admittedly) so I can’t really agree with the analogy you have about paying for microsoft word releases.
I have tried using trickle to limit bandwidth but for some reason, the gui freezes after a short time.
Can we get a true estimate of when this feature will be implemented? If not soon, there is surely a straightforward workaround. Uploading directly to my google drive through chrome doesn’t throttle my internet to the same extent. Scheduled syncing overnight could also work as a good compromise in the meantime.
I understand the difficulty you have in maintaining the software across multiple platforms while also needing to generate new customers, but surely such a basic feature needs more attention.
