You can convert Google Doc files into MS Office or OpenDocument so you can open it even when you’re offline
*Note that conversion creates another copy of your Google Doc in your preferred format
How to set Insync to automatically convert Google Docs

Hover over on your Google Account on the top bar and click on Settings

You will be able to see settings for other features, click on Convert

Choose if you want to convert your Google Doc files to Microsoft Office, or OpenDocument

Click on Apply Changes located at the bottom of your app window after choosing your convert settings
The following formats cannot be converted:
.gddoc
.gddraw
.gdform
.gdlink
.gdnote
.gdscript
.gdsheet
.gdslide
These files only contain metadata and url of the corresponding Google format file
