Insync-dolphin does not work with Plasma 6

Hm, when I remove the icons, they are not displayed, so I keep them in the installation.

I pushed a commit that removes the old files during install, so they should not bother anyone. Also fixed icon not being shown in Dolphin’s preferences.

Eh, that is a bit embarrasing, but the last update actually removed one file that needed to be installed, so it did not work. I now uploaded a fix so the install should work.

I also noted it was crashing when insync was not running or when it was starting and a file was rightclicked - I pushed a fix now.

Hi Drew,

thanks for your work on this!

Tried to compile this on my Fedora 42 installation but since I have zero knowledge about programming and compiling I did not get it to work.

Can you provide a precompiled rpm version on your github page? Considering the time for reactions of the Insync ‘linux team’ I doubt we will see an official version anytime soon.

Thanks in advance
Martin

Hello, I would rather not provide binaries, that sounds like a major headache. Probably you are missing some dependencies, what are the errors you are running into? Compilation instructions can be certainly be improved.

Wait a saga this issue has been.

I am on KDE Plasma

  • Plasma 6.50
  • KDE Framework 6.19.0
  • QT Ver. 6.9.2

As of today, 2025-10-21, the issue with Dolphin’s .deb install still does not show the synced/syncing icon overlay atop of the file icons.

You need to install from my github depository for the time being.

Hmm, which one is your repository? Felagund? Kevin Burns?

felagund. It is a fork of Kevin Brunse’s.

Any news on this? Another month has gone…

I am another KDE Plasma user who has been waiting a couple of years for this to be fixed… Bump

Drew even made a pull request on Github…
